Differences between Match and Stroke Play
There are two ways to play golf. You can play match play or stroke play. These are the most common types of play and the basic forms.
When you play match play golf you will have two players or two teams. They will play each individual hole as a separate contest against each group or person. The team with the lowest score on that hole wins that particular match. If there is a tie between two teams then the hole is halved or a draw. A match play game will be won by the group or person who wins more holes than the other. All in all great way to spend some time while waiting for reply to your citizenship application or take a break from researching how to become a US citizen.
If you are playing match play golf and a person is so far in the lead that the other person cannot catch up with the remaining holes, the game is over. The remaining holes will not be completed and the match will be over. If the lead is equal to the amount of holes that remain then the holes must be played. The leader must increase the lead by one hole and win the match. If a tie occurs on an 18 hole course then another hole must be played to determine who the winner is as the tie-breaking hole.
Stroke play is also known as stableford. This is where everyone counts the number of shots taken for every hole on the golf course. When you play stroke play the score for each hole of the round is added at the end to produce a final score. The player with the lowest score will win.
Stroke play is the most common form of golf and played by the professional golfers. When you play Stableford Points then you actually gain more points when you achieve the points associated with the hole. This type of game of golf the winner with the highest score wins. When you play Stableford Points scoring a player is not forced to complete a hole. The scoring is favored by a handicap also.
When you play golf on any course there are official rules of golf you should be aware of before you begin to play. You shouldn’t play against other people or in tournaments unless you know how to play the different types of golf. There are official forms of play also known as the foursome and the four ball games. You might want to look at yourself in a bathroom vanity when you are done playing golf.
Golf is usually played in two ways; the match play and the stroke play. You can play either way. These two types of play are different ways to score the game. The most common form of play today is stroke play. The match play is best played when there are a lot of people playing in teams because it gives more people the chance to win. It is also a better scoring method for kids.
